Looks like Grimlock will come with a crown, a brain wave transfer device from the G1 season 3 cartoon episode "Grimlock's New Brain", a waiter's mode from the G1 season 3 episode "Mad Man's Paradise", a light up sword, and articulated dino-mode front limbs and a little articulated tail as well.

Here's a preview of some of the upcoming figma figures that I might be picking. Something about girls with swords just gets me excited.
Shana from Shakugan no Shana anime. This is the red hair version, and there will be another version with black hair.
Still in prototype stage, Reika from Gantz. ETA is June 2009, and is packed with vol 26 of the manga. Not sure if we will see a normal release. These figures packed with manga are quite difficult to get, let alone being expensive to import, like the previous Rei from Evangelion manga, and Gally from Gunnm: Last Order manga.

Hot on the heals of Yamato's recently released Tomahawk, Yamato released information on their next 1/60 Destroid, the Defender. Another cool toy to add to the checklist. ETA Dec 2008.
The figure should be hitting the local shores within the week or so, and just announced in Hobby Japan Nov 2008 edition, Yamato will release a weathered version. No mention if this is limited or an exclusive. Thanks a lot Yamato. If given a choice, I would rather get this weathered version.

Just read this article about Ted Mckeever's work being collected under an Image imprint. This is really good news, as Ted Mckeever is one of my favourite artists. I noticed his works in Plastic Forks, and started to track them to Eddy Current, Transit, and later Metropol and Metropol AD, and some of his mainstream stuff from DC and Marvel.
The only problem is I had already bought the collected Eddy Current, and the individual Metropol series. The Metropol series was also collected under a different company. Bummer.

I usually do not post future releases, but the recent news just got me excited.
I am not a Macross fan, although I liked the original anime/movie (Do you remember Love is still one of the best sequence in my opinion) and Macross Zero, and watched some of the other anime like Macross Plus and Frontier.
The thing I liked about Macross are the other mechas (the Valkyries are overrated) like Tomahawk, Monster, Regult, etc. Yamato has been making Valkyries all these while, and the only non-Valkyries mecha they released was the Koenig Monster awhile back. Now they are back agin, to release the Destroid Tomahawk.
So far, these are the promotional pictures we have seen, and no other pictures from the recent toy shows in Japan. But it is looking great !
I remember as a kid, I was so taken in by this mecha design that I bought and built the model kit. I should still have the kit somewhere in the storeroom, or at least the box. It'lls be great now to own an action figure.
At the recent Tokyo Toy Show 2008 (Jun 19-22), Medicom showcased their products for the next one and a half years, and it looked like a fantastic year for Medicom, and a bad one for collector$.
Here are some of the 1/6th products that have me sold.
Ultraman
Ultraman Father ! The figure was announced when Ultraman Taro was announced. It seems that Ultraman Father will be a mailaway, using the coupon that comes with Taro. Please give him his cape and that hour glass thing.
Ultraman Leo
I have never seen an episode of Leo, since it was never shown locally. But I liked the design of Leo. And better still, he comes with his Ultra nanchucks !
Medicom continues with great offerings from this line. And it is about time. They focused so much on Kamen Rider, and it is great to see more figures. It might be Bandai holding them back, but it does not matter now. From the looks of it, they would be releasing all the Ultraman brothers, and the rest. The only problem with this line is accessories. Give them some please !
And I hope Medicom will reissue Ultraman Zoffy and Imit Ultraman in the future. The prices on these figures are going crazy over eBay.
Star Wars
Seriously, do we need more Clones ? Why not ? They are great for milking more money from collectors.
The head sculpt for Han Solo looks great, but not the clothes though. Hope they get improved along the way. And finally, a human sculpt.
Vinyl Collectible Doll series Jawa. The VCD line is not cheap, considering the size of the figures. Hope they will make this cheap and I'll buy half a dozen ! And with such prices, they better give this figure more articulations ! The past offerings like Wicket and Yoda is a disappointment.

Dragonball
When the Dragonball license was announced by Medicom, I was thrilled, but not so thrilled after seeing the Son Goku figure. With more figures like Picolo and Son Gohan announced, I am reconsidering though.
The Dark Knight
Hot one the heels of Hot Toys' TDK announcement, Medicom shows off their version.
Personally, I think they look better than HT. Shaun speculates that the Bruce Wayne would be a mail away, like the Medicom Peter Parker and Clark Kent.
But I would wait and see if TakaraTomy will also jump on the TDK bandwagon. They were the best of the 3 for the Batman Begins figures.
Street Fighter
And lastly, this came as quite a surprise, Street Fighter figures ? Not sure if this is related to the Chun Li (starring Kristin Kruek) movie that is coming out though, or just the 20th anniversary of the video game. And the cool factor is we get the big thigh version !
Start saving up people !!!
